Nicola Ellis Awarded CISI Certified Financial Planner of the Year 2025
In October 2025, at a ceremony held in Windsor and attended by many of the sharpest minds in UK financial planning, Nicola Ellis was named Certified Financial Planner of the Year by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
For anyone outside the profession, that title needs a little unpacking. The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, known as the CISI, is the leading professional body for people working in financial services across the United Kingdom. It sets some of the toughest qualification standards in the industry. Within that structure, Certified Financial Planner status, often shortened to CFP, is widely regarded as the gold standard qualification a financial planner can hold. It is earned through rigorous examination, demonstrated experience and a strict code of ethics and relatively few advisers in the country ever achieve it.
Winning Certified Financial Planner of the Year means being judged not only to hold that qualification but to have demonstrated it in practice more convincingly than any other candidate in the country that year. Recovery and Resilience: FT Adviser Workplace Excellence Awards 2026
In June 2026, Wellington Wealth was honoured at the FT Adviser Workplace Excellence Awards, a ceremony that celebrates diversity and inclusion across financial services workplaces. Wellington Wealth received the Recovery and Resilience Award, recognising the challenges the firm faced in its earliest days. When Nicola had just had her first child, going through an FCA application, twice within a year, starting a business and moving house. All the most stressful things life has to throw at you.
Wellington Wealth had also begun renovating its financial planning studio when the covid pandemic arrived without warning. What was meant to be a straightforward refit turned into a test of patience, adaptability and sheer determination, carried out while building a young business from the ground up during one of the most uncertain periods the financial services sector has ever faced. The judges recognised that resilience as worthy of national recognition.
Bryce and Lewis attended the ceremony on behalf of the firm to collect the award, representing the wider team who carried Wellington Wealth through those early and difficult months.

As a small business we have never entered or chased awards for the accolade itself or for a moment in the limelight. What matters to us is the process behind it. Entering means putting our thinking, our advice and our standards in front of independent judges and pitting ourselves against other firms who are just as committed to their clients as we are to ours.
That process challenges our own thinking. It forces us to ask whether we are truly delivering the highest possible standard for our clients or simply assuming that we are. We never want to fall behind in innovation or in cutting edge planning and advice, so entering awards is one of the ways we keep our hand in and set ourselves a challenge, mainly against ourselves.
