Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments – CISI CFP™ Professional of the Year 2025
At a glittering award ceremony in Windsor, Nicola Ellis co-founder and director of Wellington Wealth lifted the coveted CISI CFP™ Professional of the Year 2025 trophy. The selection process was extremely rigorous but grit and determination prevailed.
This CFP™ qualification is the highest level of qualification for financial planning in the UK, the gold standard, known as level 7 in financial circles. The minimum as stipulated by the Financial Conduct Authority FCA is level 4 .
There are only 1,064 CFP professionals operating in the UK with an even smaller number of female CFPs, and a tiny fraction of female CFPs who run their own business.
The Great Wealth Transfer: An exciting new era for women and their money
Britain is experiencing the largest movement of wealth between generations in history. Over the next two decades, an estimated £5.5 trillion will transfer from Baby Boomers to their children and spouses, increasingly, women are the ones receiving it.
A Generation Unprepared
Many female Baby Boomers are finding themselves in unfamiliar territory. Having trusted their husbands to handle the finances throughout their marriage, they are now facing significant wealth decisions, often for the first time following bereavement or later life divorce.
The money is there. The investments exist. The pension arrangements are in place. But understanding what it all means, how it works and who to trust can feel overwhelming when you’ve never been involved in those conversations before.
The Financial Skills You Already Have
We have observed that women who say they “don’t understand money” are often excellent budgeters. You’ve managed household finances, balanced competing priorities and made difficult decisions with limited resources through high inflation period in the 1970s. Those skills matter enormously in wealth management.
Many women are naturally more cautious with financial decisions not from lack of confidence, but from a desire to understand fully before committing. That is not a weakness. It’s prudence and it serves you well when making decisions that affect your security and your family’s future. Often what you require is a financial jargon translator.
The Next Generation
Gen X, the children of Baby Boomers are inheriting in their 50s and 60s, often having grown up with less than their children enjoyed. Many have inherited the post war discipline of saving for a rainy day and are savvy savers who want to understand exactly how their inheritance fits into their own retirement planning. They ask questions. They want transparency. They want to know more, not less. Financial Education and empowering our clients with knowledge is part of the job.
Every generation needs a Certified Financial Planner CFP Glasgow
We don’t mind what generation you are from we want everyone to be engaged with their finances and have clear goals on what money actually means. We created the Wellington Wealth Financial Planning Studio as the most instagrammable financial planning office in the whole of the UK with a view to manage the wealth of influencers & vloggers, so they can balance the short term extreme wealth going viral can deliver to ensure good financial habits early in their fame with a mind on their future.
Our Approach to Planning
At Wellington Wealth, every client regardless of age, gender, religion, background receives the same commitment, empathy, consideration and a focus on what you want to achieve.
We don’t assume you know financial jargon. We don’t rush through explanations. We take the time to ensure you understand what’s happening with your money, what your options are and what the implications of each decision might be.
Whether you’re managing wealth for the first time following the loss of a spouse, receiving an inheritance you want to handle wisely or simply wanting to take control of finances you’ve previously left to someone else the starting point is the same: understanding where you are, where you want to be and we devise a path of how to get there.
Who Can You Trust With Your Finances?
Perhaps the most important question isn’t about investment returns or tax efficiency it’s about trust. Who will listen to your concerns without judgment? Who will explain things clearly without making you feel foolish for asking? Who is genuinely on your side?
Those questions deserve answers before any financial decisions are made.
The great wealth transfer isn’t just about money changing hands. It’s about ensuring you have the understanding, support & confidence to make decisions that protect your future.
If you’re navigating significant financial decisions and want straightforward guidance without jargon, we’re here to help call us on 0141 221 3222

Your Questions Answered
Certified Financial Planning (CFP) – What You Need to Know
✅ What does a Certified Financial Planner actually do?
A Certified Financial Planner helps you make confident decisions about your entire financial life—not just investments.
We work with you to:
- Plan when you can retire and how much you’ll need
- Grow and manage your investments
- Reduce unnecessary tax
- Protect you and your family financially
- Create a clear long-term financial strategy
In short: we turn complexity into clarity so you can focus on living your life.
✅ How is this different from “just financial advice”?
Many advisers focus on selling products or managing investments.
A CFP takes a different approach:
- We look at your full picture, not just one area
- We start with your life goals, not products
- We create a coordinated plan, not isolated recommendations
Think of it as having a financial roadmap—not just directions for the next step.
✅ Can I trust you to act in my best interests?
Yes. CFP professionals are held to strict ethical standards and must always act in the client’s best interest.
That means:
- Your goals come first
- We are transparent about all fees
- We clearly explain every recommendation
Trust isn’t optional—it’s the foundation of everything we do.
✅ Are you independent?
We will clearly explain whether we are:
- Independent (able to recommend from the whole market), or
- Restricted (working from a defined range)
Either way, our responsibility is always to:
- Recommend what’s right for you
- Explain why
- Ensure you fully understand your options
✅ How do you charge—and what will it cost?
We believe in simple, transparent pricing.
Typically, fees fall into three areas:
- Initial planning fee – for building your financial plan
- Ongoing fee – for monitoring and updating your plan
- Investment costs – where applicable
We always explain:
- Exactly what you’ll pay
- What you receive in return
- Whether it represents value for your situation
No surprises. No hidden costs.
✅ Is this worth the cost?
The value of financial planning isn’t just about investment returns.
It’s about:
- Making better financial decisions
- Avoiding costly mistakes
- Paying less tax over time
- Having clarity and confidence about your future
Most clients tell us the biggest benefit is peace of mind.
✅ What qualifications do you have—and why does CFP matter?
CFP is a globally recognised standard for financial planning professionals. [fpsb.org]
To earn it, advisers must:
- Complete advanced education
- Pass rigorous exams
- Gain real-world experience
- Commit to ongoing professional standards
For you, that means you’re working with someone who is trained, tested, and accountable.
✅ What kind of results can I expect?
We don’t promise “market-beating” returns.
Instead, we help you achieve outcomes like:
- Knowing exactly when you can retire
- Feeling confident you won’t run out of money
- Structuring your finances more tax-efficiently
- Making major life decisions with clarity
The real outcome: a financial plan that supports the life you want.
✅ Is my plan tailored to me?
Absolutely.
Your plan is built around:
- Your goals (retirement, lifestyle, family)
- Your financial position
- Your attitude to risk
- Your time horizon
There is no one-size-fits-all approach—everything is personalised.
✅ How often will we review things?
Financial planning is not a one-time exercise—it evolves with your life.
Typically:
- Full review: once per year
- Regular check-ins: throughout the year
- Updates: whenever your life or goals change
We stay with you for the long term, not just a single conversation.
✅ What happens if I decide to move forward?
We keep things simple:
- Initial conversation – understand your goals and situation
- Build your plan – create a clear strategy tailored to you
- Implementation – put recommendations into action
- Ongoing review – adjust as your life evolves
Ready to take the next step?
If you’re looking for clarity, confidence, and a plan for your future, we’d be happy to help.

- In the UK, Chartered Financial Planner (CII/PFS) is often seen as the domestic “gold standard.”

What exams do I need to pass and how hard are they?
- Key assessments:
- Level 6 exam (technical knowledge)
- Level 7 case study (real client financial plan)

Is CFP worth it in the UK market?
- Absolutely, benefits include:
- Stronger client trust and credibility
- Structured financial planning approach
- Differentiation in a competitive advice market

- Some universities may qualify for exemptions. Contact the CISI or CII for details.
- Chartered Financial Planners (CII) can:
- Skip some exams via “Recognition of Prior Learning” or conversion assessments
- But there are no shortcuts. It is a privilege to take care of client and their money. You should aim to be the best you can for the best outcomes
